Introduction:MQ silicone resin is a very particular polysiloxane, whose widely application made it a prospective new silicone polymer material, and its major raw material is water glass, which is cheap and easily available. MQ silicone resin is made from siloxane chain Q (functionality is 4) and mono-function siloxane chain M, with Mw of 1,000 ~ 8,000g/mol. The properties of resin and its application depend on unit number ratio of M /Q and structure of M. Market
MQ silicone resin has great value in industrial application. First, it is the only silicone polymer mass-made from cheap water glass instead of expensive organic silicone metallic compound and silicon. Secondly, unlike other silicone polymer, it does not require strict control of the component ratio.
Meanwhile, By introducing of various organic group, MDQ and MTQ silicone resin can be developed from methyl MQ silicone resin. For example, epoxy-modified MQ silicone resin can be used as adhesion-promoter for organic coatings; CH2Cl modified MQ series have special sensitivity to UV light, electronic bean and X-rays; long-chain alkyl modified MQ silicone resin can be used as releasing agent and additive in resin to reduce its inside-stress, etc.
